Main characteristics of the Belgian vehicle register:
- In Belgium the license plate is registered to the holder of a vehicle. This means that when a vehicle changes of holder, another license plate will be attached to the vehicle.
- The license plate of a vehicle can also change when the plates are stolen or lost
- Belgium does not return owner information. Only vehicle and holder information is returned.
- The information about the holder is returned upon the reference date and time (historical). The information about the vehicle and the address of the holder is the current information (when known).
- Vehicle holders can be either a ‘natural person’ or a ‘Legal entity other than natural person’.
- When a vehicle is scrapped, stolen or outdated invalid code 111 (INFORMATION NOT DISCLOSED) is returned
Additional Information:
- Belgium will respond to multiple requests between 20:00 – 24:00 (local time).
