IVI stands for Initial Vehicle Information. Via this service, digital Certificates of Conformity (CoCs) can be exchanged.
Legal base is EU Directive 2018/858/EU. The Certificate of Conformity in electronic format is specified in Article 37. Further information about the basic format, structure and means of exchange of data is outlined in Commission Implementing Regulation 2021/133. Commission Implementing Regulation 2024/1061 lays down rules on the secure exchange of data and read-only access.
The electronic CoC is maintained via EReg Topic Group XII. For further information visit the EReg page on CoC exchange. Here, you will find a promotional film on eCoC exchange, a description of the exchange model, as well as a link to the structured IVI message.
Currently (July 2024) EUCARIS has implemented EReg-TAAM working group message version 1.9 which is the newest version available.
If you have yet to implement the IVI services, please take a look at the knowledge base article on the Implementation of IVI.
The article states the legal obligation for Member States, as well as additional options. It describes the EUCARIS IVI services briefly, and gives some best practices coming from EReg Topic Group XII, with Member States and manufacturers as members.
