Mileage

Legal basis under the mileage service is a bilateral or multilateral agreement.

The mileage service is intended to be used by one Member State to obtain mileage information of a vehicle registered in another Member State. Typically, the service may be used if a vehicle is offered for registration in a new Member State, to obtain the mileages from the former Member State of registration.

The information can be used to verify the current odometer reading. It can also be used to record the mileages in the new member state, and use them on a mileage history document, e.g. a mileage pass.
