1 TACHOnet (Tachograph Card Network)
1.1 General information
Electronic exchange of information on tachograph driver cards, as specified in Art. 31 of Regulation 165/2014.
Legal base: Regulation 165/2014, Implementing Acts 2017/1503, amends 2016/68.
Legal retention period: 6 months (2016/68, Annex VII).
A Member State that joins TACHOnet, can choose what message exchange system to use. It may use EUCARIS or it may use the EU Hub. These systems are interconnected. The systems exchange functionally identical message, i.e. the data elements and their definitions are interoperable and interchangeable between the systems. From technical perspective, though, the message formats are different. Conversions between message formats is carried by the EUCARIS broker.
All messages, also messages exchanged between two Member States using EUCARIS, pass the EU Central Hub.
