Information on CBE service delivery Greece

Main characteristics of the Greek vehicle register:
- In Greece the license plate is registered to a vehicle. If the holder of the vehicle changes, nothing happens to the licence plate.
- A license plate is only changed when it is lost, stolen or damaged
- Greek license plates do not contain a regional code
- Greece stores information of vehicle holders. Data of vehicle owners is never returned
- Historic data concerning vehicles and holders is available in the Greek registers
- In Greece it is not possible to purchase a personalized plate
- In the Greek registers cars and trailers are stored
- In Greece two kinds of plates are stored: normal plates and taxi plates
- If a vehicle is stolen or has stolen plates, no vehicle or owner/holder information is exchanged. Instead message 111 is shown with information that the vehicle/plate is stolen.
Additional Information:
- Currently, Greece cannot give an estimate on the load of sCBE requests it will send per year.
- Greece expects to respond to mCBE requests between 15:00 to 22:00
- Greece will be using all of the codes of traffic offences during the forthcoming exchange of information regarding the CBE Directive.
