Information on CBE service delivery Latvia

Main characteristics of the Latvian vehicle register:
- In Latvia the license plate is always registered to a vehicle and need not be changed with the change of holder/ownership.
- Latvian number plates do not contain a regional code.
- It’s possible to purchase a personalized number plate. When the holder wants to register another vehicle, the holder can decide to keep the personalized number plate.
- Both the holder and the owner of the vehicle are kept in the Latvian register and will be returned. When the holder is the same person/legal entity as the owner, only holder information is returned.
- The information about the vehicle and its holder/ownership are returned upon the reference date and time (historical).
- Historical data concern the vehicles and its holder-/ownership (returned upon the reference date and time).
- The Latvian vehicle register stores owner/holder information on cars, trucks, buses, trailers, motorcycle, tricycles, ATV, mopeds. Trams, trolley buses and their trailers are not stored in the Latvian vehicle register.
- The Latvian register contains the following types of license plates: regular, diplomatic, transit, temporary, trade, military, taxi and personalised.
- For vehicles or license plates reported stolen, the message = INFORMATION NOT DISCLOSED will be returned.
Additional Information:
- Latvia will only send CBE requests using the single case CBE service.
- Latvia will send approximately 10.000 requests per year.
- Latvia will respond to multiple requests on a daily basis; scheduled time 20:00 – 06:00.
- Latvia will be using all of the codes of traffic offences during the forthcoming exchange of information regarding the CBE Directive.
