Main characteristics of the Slovenian vehicle register:

  • In Slovenia the normal license plates are registered to a vehicle. The new owner may keep the old license plate or register a vehicle with a new license plate (in this case the old register plate is destroyed).
  • License plate numbers contain a regional code. The new owner may keep the old license plate with the existing regional code even after moving to a new regional code or register a vehicle with the new number plate with new regional code (in this case the old register plate is destroyed). The same applies if the new owner is from another regional code.
  • In Slovenia the holders and owners are registered in its register. Both will be returned in a CBE response.
  • Historic data will be returned (according to date and time of offense) with actualized address of owner/holder (date of sending the data). The data are reliable.
  • In Slovenia it is possible to purchase a personalized number plate. A personalized number plate is registered to the holder of licence plate. With personalized register plate an owner can register a new/other vehicle.
  • Licence plate can also be replaced in case of stolen, damaged, lost or destroyed register plate.
  • In Slovenia, all vehicles (cars, trailers, agricultural vehicles, police vehicles, mopeds), except the military vehicles, are registered.
  • In Slovenia’s registers are normal, personalised, police, diplomatic and temporary plates. Slovenia’s registers do not include military plates. There is not a register with special taxi plates in Slovenia.
  • When a vehicle is scrapped or stolen error code 111 (INFORMATION NOT DISCLOSED) is returned.
